not made for children!
Despite their cute and cuddly appearance and the use of the word ‘toy’ throughout this website, please understand that my plushies are not intended as actual toys and should not be given to children under 14.
These are handmade works of art for adult collectors, and should be treated gently! While I sew them as well as I can, they have not undergone the appropriate safety testing for a child’s toy.
Kids-at-heart only!
plushie care
I hope your plushie friend will have a long and happy life with you! Keep them safe and comfortable by doing the following:
Hand wash and air dry only! Do not put your plushie in a washing machine or tumble dryer.
Avoid washing painted areas, but printed fabric designs will wash fine.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Suitable for display and gentle handling - holding, cuddling, putting them in your pocket, and lightly tossing and flopping them around should be fine!
Feed occasionally by balancing a single dry piece of cereal on the nose for a minute or two.
the toymaker
Hello! My name’s Leo (they/he), and I’m a nonbinary plush artist who lives in Scotland! I first got into plushie making as a preteen by making modifications to existing plushies and splicing them together into weird abominations, then moved onto designing and making my own from scratch.
My favourite animal is the recently-extinct thylacine, but I’m also hugely into palaeontology and nature in general (I have a zoology degree gathering dust). I love to give prehistoric animals the same type of toy treatment as modern animals - accurately representing the interesting anatomy of living creatures, while still stylising them to be cute, whimsical and friendly!
My first steps into online sales were made with the help of my lovely friend at Palaeoplushies, who kindly lent me some of her store space while starting out. Big thanks to her!
As well as sewing my own stuff, I also have a big collection of plushies and other toys which I post about over on my tumblr blog, thylacines-toybox!
Oh, and the little leucistic thylacine in my logo is named Cereal! He’s one of my earliest little beanie thylacines, and is the inspiration for the username I go by the most online. While he doesn’t represent me (that role is filled by the rainbow-striped Jellybean!), Cereal seems to be acting as a mascot here, I guess!
